Risks and Limitations

  • Potential technology disruptions

  • Risk of unauthorized access despite security measures

  • Telehealth may not be appropriate for all clinical needs

Privacy and Confidentiality

Telehealth sessions are conducted using HIPAA-compliant platforms. You are responsible for ensuring your own privacy during sessions (e.g., using a private space, secure internet connection).

Emergency Situations

Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies. In case of crisis, you agree to contact:

  • 911

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

  • Local emergency services in your area

Location Requirement

You must be physically located in Maryland, Maine, or Washington, DC at the time of each session.

Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act Notice)

Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act requires healthcare providers to provide a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges to clients who are uninsured or self-pay.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate explaining:

  • Expected costs for psychotherapy services

  • The frequency and duration of sessions

  • Any additional anticipated services

This estimate will be provided:

  • Upon request, or

  • Before scheduling services if you are uninsured or self-pay

If You Are Billed More

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
